Yellowstone Arnica Fire Seen From Space

The photos on this page are two of the more unusual shots you'll ever see of Yellowstone National Park: they are views of the recent Arnica Fire taken from space by NASA astronauts.

The image at the top of this page is an oblique image taken from the International Space Station when it was orbiting the Earth above Lake Winnipeg in Canada. The angle, of course, accentuates the plume from the fire, but it does give a good perspective on how far the smoke from the fire drifted over the Park. The second image is much more straightforward, showing the smoke from the Arnica Fire and a few other smaller fires in a traditional manner.
