Grizzly Bear.

The third bear cub associated with an attack at the Soda Butte Campground Wednesday morning has been trapped, as authorities await the results of DNA analysis to see if a captured female grizzly was the culprit in an attack that left one dead and two injured.

Authorities had captured the mother and two cubs Thursday when they returned to the Soda Butte Campground, located seven miles outside of the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Cooke City, Montana. The second cub had eluded authorities until the mother was used as lure; when she was left in a trap the cub returned around 8 p.m. last night and was trapped.

DNA samples from the attack are being used to determine if the female grizzly killed Kevin Kammer, 48, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and injured two others. If so, the grizzly mother will be put down. However, there's some debate as to the fate of the cubs; this morning Chris Servheen, the grizzly bear recovery coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, said the cubs would likely be sent to captivity for the rest of their lives and not put down; other officials have indicated otherwise.
