Yellowstone National ParkThe weather woes that delayed openings for much of Yellowstone National Park is also affecting two campgrounds in the northeast corner of the Park, as Pebble Creek and Slough Creek are opening today under limited circumstances.

Only part of each campground will open, as NPS officials are concerned about potential flooding. Pebble Creek will open 15 of its 28 campsites, with 13 remaining closed due to their proximity to the creek’s floodplain. No drinking water will be available, and no fees will be collected until water becomes available.

Slough Creek will open with several sites restricted to RVs only, due to potential water levels at the tent pads. Drinking water is expected to be available, but no fees will be collected if water is unavailable.

Similar flood potential conditions will delay the opening of Lewis Lake Campground in the southern section of the park until July 1. All other campgrounds are currently open with no restrictions, though wet, muddy conditions may exist due to the heavy late spring runoff.
